Character name: Nearpaw
Former names (if any): Nearkit
Future names (if any): None that comes to mind yet.
Clan: Thunderclan
Age (in moons, be reasonable): Six moons
Gender: Male
Rank within the clan: Medicine cat apprentice
Looks (in 4+ sentences): What sets him apart from most other kits--and cats--would be his fur. Since he has the Rex gene, his fur isn't straight like most, instead, it has soft waves that curls and sticks out in multiple directions, giving him a soft, floofy, sheep/cloud like appearance. It doesn't help that his fur is nearly all white either, he really just looks like fluffy ball of wool. His fur is soft to the touch, not that he'd let you touch him. He's very delicate for a tom, with a lithe physique, gentle contours and small size. His gaze is distant, sleepy, colour being a blue so dull they might as well be gray; the typical, clouded eyes of a blind cat. Nearpaw has multiple scars on his paws, scratched and grazed by rocks or other paraphernalia that he didn't notice while walking around camp. Despite him being white, his pawpads aren't pink like the standard white cat--instead, it's a light gray colour. Nearkit is, well, pretty adorable, a stark contrast to his personality.
Personality (in 4+ sentences): Nearpaw's soft and gentle look is deceiving, beneath the warm exterior lies a snarky and snappy tom. Nearpaw hates his blindness, although he accepts that life is unfair. He has low tolerance for cats seeking pity with their sap stories--if they were really hurt by that incident, they'd keep their maw shut and do something about it. That's why he finds it difficult to accept help from others--he wants to learn to do things by his own, and be a real cat by his own accord, and not by pity. Nearpaw can often be found curled up in a corner, where he'll be less likely to bump and cause harm to himself. Other times, he's chilling with the elders, listening to legends and tales, most of which are entirely plausible in his eyes. He's rather polite and presentable at most times, respecting adults and all that. Because of his blindness, he's training himself to use his sense of smell and hearing to his best advantage. Nearpaw finds it hard to be emotionally attached to anyone, mostly because he can't see them unless they're upfront and in his face. He finds solace in inanimate objects, because they can't hurt him. Because he hardly makes eye-contact with anyone, some cats find him rude.
History (4+ sentence for each rank) Born last in a litter of four, Nearpaw was once the kit of a rogue traveller, who soon abandoned him because of his blindness--he was just too troublesome! Nearpaw who was then nameless, had almost resigned to his fate, believing that perhaps death was the best outcome for him. Fortunately, he was found by a loner who out of pity, left him near the borders of Thunderclan territory, where he was soon found by a patrol.
As a kit, Nearpaw was quiet and bitter, often mumbling sarcastic comments to the other kits. Why were they so bubbly and happy? Couldn't they keep quiet for just a second to let him sleep? He also didn't venture outside much as he grew, knowing his blindness would simply lead to, well, pain. After all, he did trip over all the moss beds in the nursery. Thunderclan terrain wasn't exactly smooth or ideal for a blind cat either. Most of the kits grew and got apprenticed to capable warriors, leaving him to wonder if he's going to live the rest of his life as a young elder. Ew. Be useless? Heck naw! Since blind cats can't be warriors, he'll have to resort to being the next job in line--a medicine cat apprentice. And who knows? Maybe he'll excell at it. Nearpaw was a cat of strong will, after all. And maybe, that's all you need to survive in the forest.
