Finally, I'm an apprentice! the tom purred, letting his mind wander. Not only was he an apprentice, but he was being mentored by the deputy of his clan! He must have been a pretty honorable kit for ShadowClan. He entered the apprentice's den, his mouth full of moss, pine nettles, and feathers so he could weave his nest. A few old scents remained from former apprentices, all that he recognized.

He dropped the lightweight supplies and began to get to work, carefully weaving them together, pine needles on the outside to keep it together, feathers next, then moss. It was a repetitive, lonesome process.
