THOSE OF YOU WHO WATCH ANIME, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
for those that don't, dubbing is basically the english version of a japanese anime. companies like 4Kids or Funimation hire actors to redo character voices for the sake of an english version.
now. i know that a lot of people dislike naruto because it's like the "gateway" anime, like DBZ, for kids and people in general who get into anime. it's the first one they see because hey, it's popular and widely spread. it's also dubbed so that it's SAFE for showing on DISNEY FREAKIN' XD. i shudder at the "XD" by itself because maaan have i outgrown that emote..........
SO NARUTO specifically naruto: shippuden, after the time skip and these kids are what.... 15? 16? and where the akatsuki are fully involved until they're each killed off one by one. the zombie twins hidan and kakuzu were (and kinda still are) my absolute FAVORITES out of every other character on the series. they're gritty, violent, gory, and they bicker a lot with each other and when i can actually find some decent fanart of either of them, it's brilliant.
hidan kills another character by means of harming himself. it doesn't matter to him because, hey, he's immortal and can chop his own head off -- and he would STILL live. so he's basically impaled on his scythe with three blades (right through the abdomen and hip) and then he finishes off his victim with a pike straight through his chest. obviously blood is NEEDED to tell how many injuries his poor victim has AND WHAT DOES DISNEY XD RELEASE????
they barely show his scythe at all. you can BARELY tell what's going on as hidan kills another shinobi. kids will get the basic idea that hidan's doing SOMETHING with his pike but they don't know that he pretty much stabbed his heart and lungs. HELL when he was beheaded and kakuzu had to stitch his neck back together, THERE WAS NO SIGHT OF THE STITCHES OR THE PROCESS AT ALL. just basic OW OW DUDE THAT HURTS and QUIT YOUR WHINING bickering words as they panned the shots at other characters. there were no scenes of hidan screeching at asuma (the victim) as a simple little head without a body even though IT PROVED ALL HIS RAGE TOWARD THE GUY because hey, he just got beheaded.
the zombie twins arc had to be THE most bloodiest arc in naruto, period. actually idk because i stopped following after it and i ATTEMPTED to keep following because THE REST OF THE AKATSUKI, SWOOOOON. instead i dropped out and i don't follow the series anymore, but in the light of today's sunrise, i decided to see if i could perhaps find the SAFE dub or even the uncut dub. personally i like the uncut dub but i'd have to purchase a box set for that, and there's no way i'm shelling out a total of 80 bucks just to watch my favorite akatsuki team.
but just so i was sure of what was going on, i had an uncut sub episode going on in another tab ALONGSIDE a direct video from Disney XD. and let me tell you, they cut SO MUCH out of the episode that they had to keep repeating some scenes just to fill up the space.......
IDK MAN i just....... hidan gave me an appreciation for sadistic/masochistic characters, and also violent characters in general. i actually made a bloodclan cat that was PRETTY MUCH hidan as a cat. and then i slowly developed him as an individual character, a lost/violent soul with a thirst for blood and ambition with one HELL of a sarcastic attitide. and just... wow........ my favorite character had his glory episode ruined spectacularly by the head honchos of whoever directs SAFE, PG RATED naruto episodes.
JUST UGH. SO MUCH CENSORING. HEY DISNEY, DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT A LOT OF KIDS UNDER AGE 10 SWEAR AND PLAY VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES THESE DAYS?????
