The air was warm, but the green leaf breeze ensured that it wouldn't over heat. Goldenpaw had only been an apprentice for a few days, but Shadowstalker had already taught her the basic hunting moves. She, of course, wasn't professional at it by any means. Her way of hunting still resembled that of a kit's play. That didn't stop her, however, from wanting to at least try. As she was told by her mother, Mistyfrost, practice makes perfect. She wanted to be perfect in all ways possible.
The breeze was light, but it was strong enough to pull at her fur a little. It kicked up a little bit of dirt from the ground and it piled into a cloud of dust. It sucked into her lungs, and she coughed it out and blinked her eyes to rid of the particles of dirt that gathered into them. She spat some from her mouth and wrinkled her nose in disgust. It was horrible.
After clearing her throat, her eyes, and her mouth - Goldenpaw continued on her solo hunt. The outside of Shadowclan was beautiful. She had been shown a few times since she became an apprentice, but seeing it still took her breath away every time. She wondered if the warriors felt the same way as she did. The way the sun seemed so much brighter as she stepped out of camp and into the actual territory. Breath taking.
It was in the moment of her observing of the beauty that she scented a crow. She licked her lips at the warm smell that crossed her nose. She dropped into a very, well, unprofessional crouch and stalked forward. It was such a terrible hunters crouch that the crow did see her coming. It screeched in alarm and took off. Goldenpaw was determined to catch it and show Shadowstalker she did it all by herself. Her mentor would be so proud of her!
She took off after it, and she stumbled across the thunderpath as she attempted to catch her prey. She stopped on the other side, out of breath and she glared up into the sun filled sky as the crow cawed as it flew away, as if it were laughing at her terrible hunting skills. Stupid crow. She hissed in frustration and paused.
She was in Thunderclan territory.
