The blazing sun beamed down on Snowstar's soft, white pelt as she trotted through the trees. They were good to block the sun, but everytime she stepped out into a clearing it blinded her. She squinted her bright blue eyes and paused in the shade, tilting her head and inhaling slightly. She had thought she heard another cat but decided it was just the nice breeze blowing through. Since the rain the day before, everything was just about dried up but she caught sight of droplets sitting on a leafy bush. Since she was such a small cat, she jumped ever so slightly, rasping her tongue over the clean water before sitting back down and enjoying the weather in the forest.

Sunlight broke through the tops of the trees and outlined Cavepelt's dark tabby pelt, making it seem almost golden in color. He decided on a solo hunt, just to get out of the clan and bring back a mouse or two for the clans. He really had nothing better to do, so what would it hurt? Maybe if he brought back more prey and showed off as a warrior, maybe Snowstar would consider him next time apprentices needed mentors.
Why, speak of the devil!
He saw his snow white leader enjoying herself in the sunlight. And, in perfect timing, he spotted a mouse just a few fox lengths away from her. Dropping into a perfect hunter's crouch, he pulled himself forward slyly, not making a sound. When he got close enough, he pounced, killing the mouse with a swift bite.
He raised his head, mouse in mouth, and nodded to Snowstar. "Oh, good afternoon, Snowstar! I didn't see you there." he lied. Of course he saw her. Or else he wouldn't try to act stuck up, trying to make it obvious that he was a good choice for a mentor in the future.

"Hey Cavepelt," Snowstar mewed, greeting him with a friendly purr. The young she-cat glanced at his kill, nodding appreciatively. "Nice catch," she added, shaking her white pelt as a leaf fluttered down. The sounds of the forest enveloped her and she quivered her whiskers, realizing just why she loved being in ThunderClan so much. "How are things with you?" the leader asked, making conversation as she had no reason not too. "I'm sure you'll have an apprentice soon, to help the boring times pass" Snowstar commented, thinking of Amberpaw's ceremony. She had chosen her deputy to be the apprentice's mentor, although there was no reason she didn't choose Cavepelt, it just seemed like a good choice.

He nodded at her praise of his catch. "I'm doing well, thank you. Starclan has blessed us so far with a wonderful green-leaf." he said, dropping his catch. "How about yourself?" he asked, letting the conversation go on. His ears perked at the word apprentice, and it made him purr warmly. "Oh, you know every warrior looks forward to the day that they get an apprentice."

"Yes, of course." Snowstar replied, nodding in agreement. "You'll have one before you know it. As soon as we get more kits." Her blue eyes sparkled at the thought of kits bouncing mischeivously around the camp. They were so fluffy and adorable. "I wonder how the other clans are doing," she suddenly added, her eyes darkening slightly. "This season must be treating everybody well, I just hope it doesn't give anyone the urge to attack for unnecessary reasons." Snowstar shook her white pelt, "Of course I could be just being paranoid."
