You know that feeling? The feeling when you didn't really loose anything, but you feel like you did? When you wanted something so badly, but it didn't happen? When you were deprived of your greatest desire by no fault of your own? Or perhaps, just maybe, you feel... Betrayed. Not by a friend, not by a lover, but by the stars themselves. When you felt like crying to StarClan themselves?
Shaking these thoughts from her head, Skystorm, breathing in the air that signaled she was near the surface, finished chewing up the last of the bitter herb and putting it on a dry, crisp leaf before placing it in a hole in the side of the den walls, packed with sand. It was an old, large, sturdy badger set, long abandoned and connected to a series of tunnels where tunnelers sometimes came up.
The medicine cat padded outside the badger set, feeling the warm dawn sunshine on her ginger pelt. Her amber eyes glinted faintly in the light reflected by the circle of fire known as the sun, as she waited in a corner in case of any illnesses, injures, or cats simply wanting to talk. As a medicine cat, it was Skystorm's duty to do all of these things and more.
But sometimes, just sometimes, she wished it wasn't this way... She wished she was in the tunnels once more, navigating deep underground. But there were other things, too... And this was her path. Don't regret a thing... Her friend had once said from StarClan.
But how?

Lightheart walked into the medicine den and looked around. "Skystorm," she meowed quietly.

As the warrior walked into a part of the camp which served as the medicine cat den, which smelled of herbs, both sweet and bitter, Skystorm's ears perked up. "Lightheart," Skystorm said, "Are you ill? Injured? Speaking of injuries, I'll need to have Blueflight send out a patrol to get more goldenrod and comfrey... The two together make a wonderful medicine, which can be used to bind wounds, especially when I add a fair amount of cobwebs, but you're a warrior, you don't need to hear a medicine cat talk about her herbs."
With that, Skystorm looked in a small hole in a part of a gorse thicket around the camp, pulling out another crisp leaf, which had a sort of sticky white-looking thing on it- no doubt, this was the mixture the medicine cat had spoke of. It was almost like a thing some former kittypets had called 'glue', except it wasn't as wet, and looked like it wouldn't slide too much. Perfect for broken bones, especially if it guarded against infection, like goldenrod did.
Speaking of kittypets, glancing at Lightheart once more, Skystorm observed that she was a quarter Kittypet. Her mother, Galestar, had been born to a Kittypet, who was apparently a skilled hunter, and- Skystorm mentally shuddered at this point- Redpelt, now known as Red. Honestly, the medicine cat didn't care much about lineage, as she had made clear, she only cared about the cat. Well, unless it was foxes or badgers, for obvious reasons...

"Ummm... no just poppyseeds, I haven't been sleeping well," Lightheart admitted the deaths of her brother and father still haunted her. She missed her brother, and father. ooc: her father was Cloudstorm or something like that, so how is she related to Red

((This is how I do ooc- If I studied my clan lines correctly, Galestar is Lightheart's mother, and Red is Galestar's father.))
Nodding her head, Skystorm padded into the badger set, licked her paw, and brushed two off onto a leaf with her tail. Holding the leaf by its stem, the medicine cat walked outside, placing the leaf with two poppy seeds on the ground. Once, she had accidently brought a Deathberry to the camp, and it fell in the poppy seeds. Skystorm had needed to clear out all the poppy seeds afterwards. The apprentices were fetching her the tiny black seeds for a moon.

Snowpaw slipped into the medicine den and padded over to skystorm "I'm back" she said happily and looked at lightheart "what does she need?" she asked skystorm a hint of wonder in her voice, Snowpaw walked over at sat down beside Skystorm and looked at her mentor, Snowpaw had enjoyed her half moon as an apprentice so far, she had spent lots of time trying to remember herbs and help her clanmates. She raised her head towards the top of the den and inhaled smelling the fresh scent of herbs on her tongue she loved the smell of herbs and flowers, to her it was like the smell of a freshly killed rabbit, that's one of the things she had loved about being in the medicine cat den. She smiled and gazed out of the medicine den wondering what they would do today

"Thank you," Lightheart meowed and grabbed the poppy seeds walking away.
