Everything in life happens for a reason.
That's what Hawkclaw was taught. No, not by his mother. Not by his father. Not by his leader, his deputy, his best friend, his medicine cat, or even his mentor. He learned it on his own. After his brother's murder, he always blamed himself. Sure, it was his fault. He shouldn't have begged and begged his brother to go out looking for a hawk. It was mouse brained, it was pointless.
As he grew older, the guilt eroded and he had a sense of understanding. It was a calming and peaceful feeling, like he had not a worry in the world. Yes, he missed Rainkit. He did still wish he hadn't lost his mind and came up with that absurd idea. When he thought about it, though, there was no sadness. There was no pain and there was no grief. There certainly were no regrets.
The day was edging towards noon, and the sun was high into the sky. It seemed like a beautiful day. It wasn't too hot, just warm with a green-leaf breeze blowing. In the middle of his thoughts, he suddenly snapped into reality and noticed a rabbit. He took off after it, taking the weight off of his paws as he shot after it. Most Windclanners could get the rabbit so easily, but him being heavy built made it a little harder for him to be quick on his paws. He made it, though. Hawkclaw hooked the rabbit in his claws and nipped it's neck. A quick, easy, clean kill. He purred in satisfaction. Life was good.

Goldendawn bounded through WindClan's territory, the slight breeze blowing her whiskers against her ginger face. She decided she would break away from the bustling Clan camp for a while and maybe even catch a rabbit. Sunlight beamed down on her, turning her ginger pelt into a fiery golden color. As she neared another WindClan cat, she slowed her pace a little. "Good catch, Hawkclaw," she complimented, eying the freshly killed rabbit.

The breeze was settling in, blowing here and there. It felt nice. He set his rabbit down, just in time to scent something else. Not more rabbits or some other animal. It was another Windclanner. Before he had the second to turn to see who it was, he heard a voice sound behind him, complimenting his catch
"Good catch, Hawkclaw"
Hawkclaw slowly turned, grinning a toothy grin. "Why, hello, Goldendawn. And, thank you, very much." another breeze danced through his tabby pelt. The fur on his face blew so it almost covered the giant scar along the side of his ragged face.
"What brings you out here?" he asked, allowing himself to sit down on the grassy, moorland floor.[/size]

"No problem," the ginger she-cat replied to Hawkclaw when he said thanks. Goldendawn shrugged when the dark tabby asked her why she was out here. "Oh, I just wanted to... get away from WindClan for a bit and maybe catch a rabbit. It gets kinda boring when you're just sitting around camp doing nothing... And sometimes I'd just rather be alone than go out on a patrol." The sun gave perfect warmth, and a slight breeze stirred her pelt.
